Too much?

Have you ever noticed that the older we get, the more we live through our kids?  I mean, at least where I live in Texas, you can ask any mom or dad whose kid is on a youth sports team something about the sport, and suddenly they are experts on the subject.  Football?  Know it all.  Junior is already looking at scholarship offers and he's only 7!  I can't believe the way kids are catered to.  Parents put up signs with their kids name and number on it, just like the varsity players at high school get, but their kids are in pee-wee football.  Sure it makes them feel special and good about themselves, but what do they get in 10 years to make them feel special and they haven't made the team?  A car?  A vacation to Mexico?  Rolex?  We have taken away all of the anticipation for goals to achieve when we started giving our kids the same stuff the older kids had.  Girls at 12 with perfectly colored hair and skin?  Common place.  16 year olds driving BMW's?  The high school lot is full of them.  I just wonder, when my kids and their friends are middle age, will they ask, is that all there is?  Nothing else to look forward to because they've already had it all?  I wonder if my parents felt the same way?

Sorry for the rant.  First ever posting.  I'll see how it goes from here.
